Hold the fries: We're eating less fast food, study says
Thu Feb 21, 2013
I used to go to the fast food places all the time, and I don't know about everyone else, but the reason I stopped going so much was the cost. many of the chains are pricing themselves out of business. The biggest increases I saw we're BK, Jack in the Box & McD's. It's just not worth it anymore.
Penny pinching: Can Obama manage elimination of one-cent coin?
Tue Feb 19, 2013
It should also be considered that even though the nickel & penny cost more than face value to manufacture, the other coins cost a lot less than face value to manufacture. So really there is no net loss. AND, it is pretty much certain that if the the penny was to be eliminated, prices will go UP! …
Blizzard alert: Northeast snowstorm could be among the worst of all time
Thu Feb 7, 2013
Don't journalists do their homework anymore? "Worst ever, yeah right" What about March,1993? That storm slammed the entire eastern seaboard. Dumped a foot on Atlanta, 6 feet in Albany,NY, 3 feet in Rochester,NY.. Hurricane force winds on the coast. Just another over dramatized story. Really, this j …
Oregon bakery refuses to make same-sex wedding cake
Sat Feb 2, 2013
Above all, I believe that a business does have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. So, +1 for that bakery for that action. But then, I also think it's a stupid reason that bakery refused service. Last time I checked, no one religion has a monopoly on marrage. So -1 for the bakery t …
Does pot really lower IQ? It's not so simple
Mon Jan 14, 2013
If anything lowers IQ, it's alcohol that lowers IQ. I'd like to see a study done on that one.
Monopoly is sending a game piece to jail, permanently
Thu Jan 10, 2013
Carolyn: I agree, nothing is wrong with the game. But I'll bet sales are down, so the marketing dept needs some kind of gimmick to induce more sales of the game. Monopoly has been around for quite some time, so there is a pretty good market saturation. I'm sure most households already have a copy si …
Newtown gunman forced his way into school, police say
Sat Dec 15, 2012
This may sound cold & callous to some folks, but it has to be said. Sometimes bad things happen, it really sucks, but that is life. And there is nothing we can do to keep bad things from happening. We can point fingers and blame all we want, but things like this will happen. My heart goes out to …
So where will all that 'legal' pot come from? Sale of pot stymied
Tue Dec 11, 2012
@glimmmerr: Actually, it is quite possible to smoke an ounce a week by one's self. I've slipped into that habit on many, many occasions. Especially while smoking lower quality mexican weed that was common in the 70's, so, Ed isn't feeding any BS. @NYMike: I both agree & disagree. Heavy, ounce pe …
'The grandaddy of all gushers'? Not this spill
Sat Jun 19, 2010
The real problem in all of this is people start arguing over petty issues such as, "is this the WORST disaster?", or "who can we blame?" The focus should be on how do we stop this undersea gusher, how do we minimize the damage, and how do we prevent this sort of thing from happening again. But no …
AP-GfK Poll bolsters congressional Democrats
Wed Jun 16, 2010
Polls are completely useless. They are worded in ways to get whatever response they are looking for. It's a voodoo science that is by no measure a true reflection of the public opinion. PS: Dragonwagon5, your comment borders on racist. If you replaced "white" with another color, people would be fre …
